Hailing from the mean streets of Mill Valley, California, I was the guy in the back of the classroom always doodling in my notebooks instead of paying attention to the teacher. Elaborate drawings in the yearbooks? Yep. Drawings of the heavy metal band logos and mascots on the back of Levi jackets? Yep. Drawings of magic items and monsters for Dungeons & Dragons game cards? Yep.
This obsession led me to art school in Los Angeles, and after graduation, an early career in hi-tech, helping engineers translate their lines of code into engaging illustrations for children's educational CD-Roms.
Today, I enjoy tackling assignments for clients such as the Wall Street Journal, Money, Kiplinger's Personal Finance, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Chicago Tribune and Forbes. So far, none of them have asked for an illustration of Iron Maiden's skeletal mascot, Eddie, but there's always time...
I ultimately paid off all school loans from Art Center College of Design, where, despite my many distractions, I managed to cross the finish line with an honors degree.
